Laura Young has over 25 years of experience working with children and families. She returned to university several years ago hoping to increase her knowledge of how to best serve children and their parents on their journey together. In 2020, after completing a master’s degree in Child Studies focusing on psychological resilience and well-being, she created and began to implement the Psychological Resilience and Well-Being program (PRWB). During the following year, she wrote five children’s books to complement the program. The program is a blend of psychology, philosophy, biology, spirituality, and humor. Complex topics such as self-regulation, self-compassion, mindfulness, conflict resolution, self-awareness, triggers, and identity are presented in simple to understand terms. The overall objective of the program is not only to teach, but to allow participants to experience the nature of resilience and well-being in their lives. Laura strongly believes that this preventative approach is the best way to facilitate growth for children and families while reducing the need for costly and invasive future interventions.
